SHEET 01MANCHESTER, NHDRAIN / SEWER

Drain and sewer service for Manchester homes. We show you the camera feed.

Old clay laterals, maple roots, ledge, and New Hampshire winters. Most backups around here have a cause you can see on a camera. We find it, show it to you, and give you a flat-rate price in writing before we touch anything.

Nights and weekends billed at the same rate as weekdays. We tell you the trip fee on the phone.

Water coming up the basement drain right now?

Stop running water in the house. Don't flush, don't run the washer or dishwasher. If water is near an outlet, a furnace or a water heater, stay out of it. Then call us. Dispatch answers 24 hours a day and will tell you an honest arrival time.

What we do

We're a drain and sewer shop. That's the whole job. No furnace sales, no bathroom remodels. Six things, done carefully.

  1. D-01

    Drain cleaning

Kitchen sinks, tub and shower drains, floor drains, laundry standpipes. We clear the clog and tell you why it happened.

Gloved hands working on a pipe connection.
  2. D-02

    Sewer camera inspection

We run a color camera down your main line and record it. You watch the monitor with us and keep the video.

  3. D-03

    Hydro-jetting

High-pressure water that scours roots, grease and scale off the pipe wall. For lines where snaking only buys a few months.

  4. D-04

    Sewer line repair and replacement

Spot repairs, full replacement, and trenchless options like lining or pipe bursting where your line and lot allow it.

  5. D-05

Main line and septic line clogs

The pipe from your house to the street, or to your septic tank. We clear it and check the line. We don't pump tanks; we'll tell you if you need a pumper.

  6. D-06

    Emergency backups

Sewage in the basement at 2 a.m. We clear the line first, then find out why.

Why Manchester lines back up

Southern New Hampshire is hard on sewer pipe. These are the four causes we find most often.

BASEMENT CITY MAIN LEDGE A B C D SECTION A–A · HOUSE TO STREET · NOT TO SCALE

Clay tile and Orangeburg

A lot of the city's older housing, from West Side triple-deckers to North End colonials, still drains through vitrified clay tile with a joint every few feet. Many 1950s and '60s homes in the suburbs went in with Orangeburg, a tar-paper pipe that slowly flattens. Both fail in ways a camera shows clearly.

Maple roots

Sugar maples, red maples and Norway maples line a lot of Manchester streets. Their roots find the smallest gap in a clay joint and grow into a mat that catches everything you flush.

Frost, thaw and ledge

New Hampshire frost reaches deep, and the ground heaves and settles every spring. Over the years that can crack joints or leave a low spot, called a belly, where waste sits. Ledge sits just below the surface on a lot of lots, so pipes were sometimes laid shallower or bent around rock.

Grease and wipes

The one cause that isn't the house's fault. Cooking grease cools into a hard layer in cold pipes, and "flushable" wipes don't break down. Together they build plugs fast in winter.

04

How a camera call usually runs

Four steps. You leave with footage and options, not a shrug.

  1. Access

We come in through a cleanout if you have one, or pull a toilet if you don't. Drop cloths and shoe covers first.

  2. Run the camera

A color camera head goes down the line while you watch on the monitor with us. We point out roots, cracks, offsets and grease.

  3. Locate

If something needs digging later, our locator finds the camera head from the yard. We mark depth and position with paint so nobody digs blind.

  4. Options in writing

Snake, jet, line or dig. You get each option with a flat-rate price in writing, and nothing starts until you pick one.

05

Pricing you see before we start

We price by the job, not by the hour. Here's how it works:

  • On the phone: we tell you the trip and diagnostic fee before we drive over.
  • At your house: we diagnose, then write up a flat-rate price for each option.
  • Before work: you approve one option in writing. That's the price, unless you add work.
  • Nights and weekends: billed at the same rate as weekdays.

Financing is available on approved credit for larger repairs and replacements. Ask us for details.

Maintenance plan

Root Watch Plan

For houses with a known root problem. Once a year we run the camera, clear the roots before they block the line, and send you the footage so you can see if anything is changing. Plan members get priority scheduling and a reminder before the season when roots grow fastest.

From around the area

These are sample reviews written for this demo. They are not from real customers.

Sample review

“Main backed up the night before Thanksgiving. The camera showed a root ball about 40 feet out. They jetted it, left me the video, and the bill matched the quote.”

Chris R., North End, Manchester
Sample review

“Third company we called. The first two wanted to dig without looking. Granite State showed us the belly on the screen and gave us two options in writing.”

Aisha T., Bedford
Sample review

“Our 1962 ranch still had Orangeburg out to the street. They explained the lining option and the dig option without pushing either one.”

Common questions

Q01

Do you always run a camera first?

On main line calls and repeat backups, yes. The exception is when sewage is already on the basement floor. Then we clear the line first so the house is safe and usable, and run the camera right after. We'll tell you which plan makes sense when you call.

Q02

Do you charge more at night or on weekends?

No. Nights, weekends and holidays are billed at the same rate as weekdays. There is a trip and diagnostic fee, and we tell you what it is on the phone before we drive over. After that, every repair is a flat-rate price you approve in writing first.

Q03

Can you fix a sewer line without digging up my yard?

Sometimes. Trenchless lining or pipe bursting works when the pipe still holds its shape and we can reach both ends. Collapsed sections, heavy ledge or a bad belly usually mean a dig. The camera tells us which one you have, and we'll show you why.

Q04

Do you pump septic tanks?

No. We clear the line between your house and the tank and check it with a camera, but we don't pump tanks. If the problem is a full tank or a failing leach field, we'll tell you so and suggest you call a septic pumping company.
